Meet Barry

Hello IEEE-USA.  Here is a bit of my background by way of introduction...

I am a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of HKN.  Within IEEE-USA I have served in some capacity for over 15 years.  My engagements include continuous membership in, and former Chairmanship of, the Committee on Aerospace and Transportation Policy, three terms as the Region 2 representative to the Government Relations Council, 4 years Board service as Region 2 Director-Elect and Director, current chairmanship of the Ad Hoc on Space Community Engagement, and speaker/organizer of events at two of the IEEE-USA meetings when they were still a separate program activity. 

In the MGA Realm, in addition to serving as Director of Region 2, I have been Treasurer, Vice Chair and Chair (twice) of the NoVA Section of IEEE, and was recognized in 2010 as Volunteer of the Year. 

Within TAB, I chaired the Joint NoVa/DC SSIT Chapter for two years, and am active in GRSS, TMC, SSIT and AESS (where I began a term on the Board of Governors in January.

In addition to IEEE volunteering, I am currently a certified volunteer coordinator and coach for Special Olympics and am the Northern VA Webmaster and Newsletter Editor.  I also serve as Chairman of the Board for the NGA Alumni Association.   As relates to my efforts to align the policy elements of other professional organizations, I am active within the American Geographical Society (Fellow) AIAA (Senior Member), ASPRS, SPIE, the Air and Space Force Association and the National Space Society.
